Occupational Therapy’s Role in Agriculture
& Rural Communities

Discover how occupational therapy services can enhance the quality of life and independence for farmers and ranchers. This webinar will discuss why occupational therapists should have a greater presence in agriculture and rural communities and describe the services provided by therapists in community outreach programs such as AgrAbility. Further discussion will highlight how to incorporate farming/ranching topics into graduate curricular work, continuing competencies, and training programs.

- Relationship between occupational therapy and agriculture/rural communities
- Assistive technology and intervention recommendations
- Educational opportunities and outreach efforts
Our Presenter:
Danyele Clingan, OTS, University of Indianapolis, and National AgrAbility Project Intern.
Danyele is an occupational therapy doctoral student at the University of Indianapolis working in conjunction with the National AgrAbility Project. Throughout graduate studies, Danyele has focused on advocacy and education of agricultural communities through presentations and clinical work. Danyele has had the opportunity to further advocate and educate occupational therapy students on the importance of serving agriculture and rural communities as well as promoting the profession to colleagues and those served. Upon graduation, Danyele plans to continue partnering with the National AgrAbility Project to provide a diverse approach for better serving farmers and ranchers with disabilities or limitations.
A question & answer period will follow the presentation. The anticipated length of the webinar is one hour.
